That’s slightly more than 20% of the population. 8% of the population suffers from high-impact chronic pain, meaning that it limits at least one of their major life activities.
There are six activities of daily living, defined as routine activities that people normally do without assistance: eating, bathing, getting dressed, toileting, mobility, and continence. But who among us wants to just get by being able to do only the things that are necessary? Current life expectancy in the US is almost 79 years. Why shouldn’t we enjoy that as long as possible?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Many disability indexes relate to pain in different parts of the body, including how they can limit activities. For example, the Neck Index contains questions about difficulties in reading, a sedentary activity, but neck pain can interfere with your ability to do so comfortably, as well as interfering with driving, sleeping, recreational activities, and sleeping. It can also be the cause of severe and/or frequent headaches. The Oswestry Back Disability Index rates difficulty and pain involved in sitting, standing, walking, lifting, and sexual activities, among other things. In other words, chronic pain doesn’t just affect one body part; the effect of it carries over into virtually everything you do, or wish you could do.
